Blackbirds – These sculptures in clay are loosely based on the readout of recordings of the songs of blackbirds, a sound redolent of my childhood, both beautiful and melancholic. About the height of a blackbird, each is glazed in a different black. They were made in the months leading up to my mother’s death in 2019.
